Antanas Lučiūnas “Attempting to be conscious”

As part of the Vilnius Gallery Weekend, “Autarkia” invites for two performances. One of them happened in two thousand and nine, the other is created now. Nine years – it’s not ten, is that a significant period of time? What has changed?

“Autarkia” invites for two performances. One of them happened in two thousand and nine, the other is created now. Nine years – it’s not ten, is that a significant period of time? What has changed?

In the never shown before video the artists band “Kionigsberg” performs, punkish version of Lithuanian anthem, breaks guitar, throws plastic bottles at crowd. Huge audience is not really engaged in energetic show, but rather passively observes situation unfolding. Duration 4min.

Nine years later in the same location, a recent graduate from Vilnius Academy of Arts, Antanas Lučiūnas presents his latest performance. Duration 6 min.

Exhibition includes drawings by self taught artist under pseudonym “Vienturtis” (Onlyborn).

With this opening “Autarkia” launches new season. First message is simple – “Autarkia” is not an address or certain square meters, or even a program. Important – the exhibition will happen in new space (same location).

The event is part of the Vilnius Gallery Weekend.
